		<description>Franklin was a self made man and that got the respect of the north.  His reputation (he got there without hurting people) helped with the genteel Southern planters.   His age got him the respect of all because he still had his wits, his intelligence, and was still well spoken.  He had thirty years on most of the men in the convention and they respected him for it.</description>
